BROCKPORT, N.Y. — The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) will move forward with the Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I National Coaches Polls this spring. After weighing feedback from coach members and considering the number of programs competing during the spring 2021 season, the NFHCA will not be operating Division II and Division III National Coaches Polls.
The first Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I National Coaches Poll will be released on Tuesday, March 16, 2021 with voting taking place on Monday, March 15, 2021. The final poll will be released on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 following scheduled conference championships. There will not be a preseason poll.
The spring 2021 Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I National Coaches Polls will feature a list of the top-20 teams in the nation — rather than the top-25 — to reflect the smaller group of teams competing this season.
The Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I National Coaches Poll is voted on by NFHCA Division I member coaches and has no bearing on selection to the NCAA Division I Field Hockey Championship. Voting members are asked to consider overall 2020-2021 record, strength of schedule, results against common opponents, and head-to-head competition when making their weekly selections.
Division I National Coaches Poll Schedule
The voting portal will be open to Division I head coach members on Mondays from 8:00 a.m. EST to 11:59 p.m. EST. Division I members will receive a reminder email and voting instructions each week.
The NFHCA will release the weekly ranking no later than 3:00 p.m. EST on Tuesdays.
