NFHCA Proudly Announces 2024 Division III Regional Players of the Year
MANAHAWKIN, NJ — The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) is excited to announce the six student-athletes who have been selected to represent their respective regions as the NFHCA Division III Regional Player of the Year. Each regional award winner is now in the running for NFHCA Division III National Player of the Year honors.
Region I
Berit Sharrow, Babson College, Sr., Defender (Denver, CO)
- Named to the NFHCA All-Region I, First Team
- Named NEWMAC Defensive Player of the Year for third-straight year
- Named NEWMAC First Team for fourth year in a row
- Named to the NFHCA Senior Team
- Anchored a defense that tied for first in Division III with 13 shutouts and ranked second nationally with a 0.65 goals-against average
Region II
Amy Griffin, Middlebury College, Sr., Midfielder (Wilmette, Illinois)
- Named to NFHCA All-Region II, First Team
- Named the NESCAC Defensive Player of the Year for the second-straight campaign
- Named to the All-NESCAC First Team
- Named to NCAA Division III All-Tournament Team for the fourth time in her career
- Tied for seventh in the nation for assists per game (0.67) with 14 assists across 21 games
Region III
Hanna Corrigan, SUNY Cortland, Sr., Forward/Midfielder (Barneveld, New York)
- Named to the NFHCA All-Region III, First Team
- Repeated as SUNYAC Offensive Player of the Year
- Named to the SUNYAC All-Conference First Team for the fourth-straight year
- Named to the NFHCA Senior Team
- Named SUNYAC Tournament MVP
Region IV
Allie Palumbo, Rowan University, Sr., Midfielder, (Mantua, New Jersey)
- Named to the NFHCA All-Region IV, First Team
- Named NJAC Midfielder of the Year
- Named to the NJAC First Team for the fourth time in her career
- Led the NJAC in goals (17) and points (40)
- Named to the NFHCA Senior Team
Region V
Belle Fields, York College of Pennsylvania, Sr., Goalkeeper, (Centreville, Maryland)
- Named to NFHCA Region V, First Team
- Named MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Year
- Named to the NFHCA Senior Team
- Led the nation in save percentage (.865) and tallied 90 saves on the season across 22 games
- Finished her career with a York College-record 30 shutouts
Region VI
Marli McDorman, Salisbury University, So., Forward (Pocomoke City, Maryland)
- Named to the NFHCA All-Region VI, First Team
- Named Coast-to-Coast Player of the Year
- Named to the NCAA Division III All-Tournament Team
- Named to the Coast-to-Coast First Team
- Tallied eight goals with eight assists on the year, landing more than half her shot attempts on goal, earning a .613 shot-on-goal percentage
The NFHCA Division III Regional Player of the Year announcement is the second in a list of postseason awards from the NFHCA. Last week the 2024 NFHCA Division III All-Region teams were announced. The Division III NFHCA All-American teams will be announced on December 17 and the NFHCA Division III National Player of the Year on December 19.
The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) is a nonprofit organization serving field hockey coaches and supporters of the game from across the United States. The mission of the organization is to champion, strengthen, and celebrate field hockey coaches and the game. The NFHCA strives to cultivate and recognize the professional contributions of its membership and to foster and promote the growth of the sport. The NFHCA is responsible for providing a recognizable presence and voice in regard to legislation affecting the sport as well as interscholastic and intercollegiate programs.
