Rojack, Harris named NFHCA Division III National Players of the Week

MANAHAWKIN, NJ  — Sophomore defender from The Catholic University of America, Mary Rojack, and senior forward from Vermont State University Castleton, Emily Harris, have been named this week’s NFHCA Division III Defensive and Offensive Players of the Week, respectively.

Senior goalkeeper from Hartwick College, Ashley Luppens, and junior forward from Houghton University, Jace Hunzinger, received honorable mention nods for Division III Defensive and Offensive Players of the Week, respectively, as well.

NFHCA Division III Defensive Player of the Week

 

Mary Rojack, The Catholic University of America, So., Defender (Madison, NJ)

  • Rojack played an instrumental role in Catholic’s 2-0 week against top-15 opposition.
  • Scored two goals, including the winning penalty stroke in 2OT against #11 TCNJ.
  • Contributed to a massive defensive effort, holding #3 Rowan to just one goal in a 2-1 victory for the Cardinals as they took down the Profs for the first time since 2017.

NFHCA Division III Offensive Player of the Week

 

Emily Harris, VTSU Castleton, Sr., Forward (Crondall, England)

  • Named the LEC Offensive Player of the Week after contributing on all five Castleton tallies in a 5-2 triumph over Union (N.Y.), marking the Spartans first victory in the series in over a decade.
  • Scored four goals, including the game-winner, on five total shots, and assisted on the team’s fourth goal of the contest.

NFHCA Division III Defensive Player of the Week Honorable Mention

 

Ashley Luppens, Hartwick College, Sr., Goalkeeper (Wading River, NY)

  • Named the Empire 8 Defensive Player of the Week after stopping 16-of-17 shots for the Hawks in two games.
  • Opened the year by stopping 14-of-15 shots on goal in a tough 1-0 loss to Rochester but rebounded by earning her first collegiate shutout in a win over RPI on Sunday.

NFHCA Division III Offensive Player of the Week Honorable Mention

 

Jace Hunzinger, Houghton University, Jr., Forward (Rome, NY)

  • Named the Empire 8 Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week after tallying six points on two goals and two assists, as Houghton began the season 2-0, out-scoring opponents, 10-0.
  • Started the year with a goal and two assists in a win over Lancaster Bible and added a goal in a 4-0 win over Neumann Saturday.

The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) is a nonprofit organization serving field hockey coaches and supporters of the game from across the United States. The mission of the organization is to stimulate the professional development of coaching leadership within the sport of field hockey. The NFHCA strives to cultivate and recognize the professional contributions of its membership and to foster and promote the growth of the sport. The NFHCA is responsible for providing a recognizable presence and voice in regard to legislation affecting the sport as well as interscholastic and intercollegiate programs.
