Loeb, McGrath named NFHCA Division III National Players of the Week

GENEVA, N.Y. — Junior goalkeeper from Colby College, Emily Loeb, and junior midfielder from No. 9 Babson College, Brianne McGrath, have been named this week’s NFHCA Division III Defensive and Offensive Players of the Week sponsored by ScoreBreak, respectively. The performance of No. 9 Babson College’s sophomore defender, Berit Sharrow, merited an honorable mention.

NFHCA Division III Defensive Player of the Week

 

Emily Loeb, Colby College, Jr., Goalkeeper (Winnetka, Illinois)

  • Posted a season-high nine saves in the 2-1 victory vs then-No. 3 Tufts University
  • Protected the cage against 18 total shots and seven corner attempts
  • Marks Colby’s first win against Tufts since 2003
  • Named NESCAC Player of the Week

NFHCA Division III Offensive Player of the Week

 

Brianne McGrath, No. 9 Babson College, Jr., Midfielder (Newmarket, Ontario)

  • Scored a pair of game-winning goals during the 2-0 week for Babson
  • Scored the game-winner in the third quarter vs previously unbeaten then-No. 3 Tufts University
  • Buried the only goal in the 1-0 victory vs No. 12 Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)
  • Ranks second in the NEWMAC for scoring with eight goals and two assists for 18 points
  • Named NEWMAC Offensive Athlete of the Week

Honorable Mention

 

Berit Sharrow, No. 9 Babson College, So., Defender (Denver, Colorado)

  • Made four defensive saves during the 2-0 week for Babson
  • Made one defensive save and dished out one assist in the 2-1 victory vs then-No. 3 Tufts University
  • Made three second-half defensive saves in the 1-0 victory vs No. 12 MIT
  • Named NEWMAC Defensive Athlete of the Week

The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) is a nonprofit organization serving field hockey coaches and supporters of the game from across the United States. The mission of the organization is to champion, strengthen, and celebrate field hockey coaches and the game. The NFHCA strives to cultivate and recognize the professional contributions of its membership and to foster and promote the growth of the sport.
