Heather Lewis appointed to NFHCA Board of Directors
GENEVA, NY — The NFHCA Board of Directors voted to appoint Heather Lewis as the first Honorary Member representative on the NFHCA Board of Directors. The Honorary Member designation was created with the adoption of the revised 2021 NFHCA bylaws. A 13-member inaugural class was invited and welcomed by the NFHCA membership community this past summer. Designed by the NFHCA Bylaws Committee to leverage the knowledge and experience of former coaches, administrators, and other leaders, the structure of the Honorary Member group ensures that our coaching body stays connected to, and continues to learn from, former coaches and important members of our field hockey community.
“The NFHCA is an organization I believe strongly in and, if my serving on the Board can help advance this Association forward, then I’m pleased to help in any way I can,” said Lewis, who served as the Interim NFHCA Executive Director from April 2020 – June 2021. She is no stranger to the NFHCA, having served as the previous President as well. “I’m so excited to have Heather back working with the NFHCA Board. She brings a wealth of knowledge and insight to the organization. We’re truly lucky to have Heather on board,” shared NFHCA President Anne Parmenter.
As the current Athletics and Activities Director for Seneca Valley School District in Harmony, PA, she was recently recognized as their 2022 Region IV Athletic Director of the Year by the Pennsylvania State Athletic Directors Association. Lewis has been at Seneca Valley for nearly 11 years and previously served as the Chief Operating Officer for USA Field Hockey in 2009. She also served as the head field hockey coach, women’s lacrosse coach, associate athletic director and assistant athletic director for Bucknell University in Lewisburg, PA, for over 15 years. Lewis also spent time as an official for the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). As a former student-athlete herself, Lewis was a regional All-American and All-ACC and captain of her field hockey team, and regional All-American and NCAA Champion for the women’s lacrosse team at the University of Maryland, College Park. She currently also currently serves on the Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League (WPIAL) Board of Directors.
Heather started her three-year term with the Board of Directors in November and will be attending the upcoming January 2023 Board of Directors meeting in Lake Mary, Florida. She will also be a presenter and speaker at the NFHCA Annual Convention and Winter Escape Showcase.
