Hainsworth, Nicholas named NFHCA Division III National Players of the Week

BROCKPORT, N.Y. — Sophomore goalkeeper from No. 6 Rowan University, Abby Hainsworth, and senior midfielder from No. 1 Middlebury College, Erin Nicholas, have been named this week’s NFHCA Division III Defensive and Offensive Players of the Week, respectively.

NFHCA Division III Defensive Player of the Week

 

Abby Hainsworth, No. 6 Rowan University, So., Goalkeeper (Williamstown, New Jersey)

  • Posted back-to-back shutouts in victories over conference rivals No. 4 Kean University and No. 13 The College of New Jersey
  • Made two saves on the road against TCNJ to secure the 1-0 win
  • Recorded three saves on Saturday against then-undefeated Kean University
  • Saturday’s 1-0 shutout was the third in a row for Hainsworth
  • Named New Jersey Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week

NFHCA Division III Offensive Player of the Week

 

Erin Nicholas, No. 1 Middlebury College, Sr., Midfielder (Scarsdale, New York)

  • Scored three goals for six points last week against two NESCAC opponents, Bates College and No. 3 Tufts University
  • Recorded the game-winning goal in both contests
  • Against Bates, scored the first two goals in a 4-0 win
  • Put away the game winner against the Jumbos, 7:30 into overtime
  • Netted her 50th career goal against Bates
  • Named NESCAC Player of the Week

Millie Brady, No. 5 Babson College, Sr., Midfielder (Far Hills, New Jersey)

  • Recorded 12 points last week on five goals and two assists
  • Scored in three of the Beaver’s four games last week
  • Netted two goals and one assist for a career-high five points in Sunday’s 6-1 win over Keene State
  • Named NEWMAC Offensive Player of the Week

The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) is a nonprofit organization serving field hockey coaches and supporters of the game from across the United States. The mission of the organization is to stimulate the professional development of coaching leadership within the sport of field hockey. The NFHCA strives to cultivate and recognize the professional contributions of its membership and to foster and promote the growth of the sport. The NFHCA is responsible for providing a recognizable presence and voice in regard to legislation affecting the sport as well as interscholastic and intercollegiate programs.
