Hainsworth, Hughes named NFHCA Division III National Players of the Week

GENEVA, N.Y. — Senior goalkeeper from No. 2 Rowan University, Abby Hainsworth, and senior forward/midfielder from Skidmore College, Carrie Hughes, have been named this week’s NFHCA Division III Defensive and Offensive Players of the Week sponsored by ScoreBreak, respectively.

NFHCA Division III Defensive Player of the Week

 

Abby Hainsworth, No. 2 Rowan University, Sr., Goalkeeper (Williamstown, New Jersey)

  • Made a career-high 10 saves to lead Rowan to a 2-1 victory over then-No. 2 Johns Hopkins University
  • Faced nine shots on goal and preserved a 2-1 overtime win vs Swarthmore College
  • Owns a 0.98 goals against average this season
  • Named NJAC Defensive Player of the Week

NFHCA Division III Offensive Player of the Week

 

Carrie Hughes, Skidmore College, Sr., Forward/Midfielder (Kansas City, Missouri)

  • Tallied four goals and an assist during the week
  • Scored her second hat trick of the season in a decisive 7-0 victory vs Nazareth College
  • Scored the game-winning goal and assisted on another in the 3-2 comeback overtime victory vs SUNY Geneseo
  • Leads the Liberty League in goals, goals per game, shots, shots per game, and points
  • Named Liberty League Offensive Performer of the Week

The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) is a nonprofit organization serving field hockey coaches and supporters of the game from across the United States. The mission of the organization is to stimulate the professional development of coaching leadership within the sport of field hockey. The NFHCA strives to cultivate and recognize the professional contributions of its membership and to foster and promote the growth of the sport. The NFHCA is responsible for providing a recognizable presence and voice in regard to legislation affecting the sport as well as interscholastic and intercollegiate programs.
