Descalso, Kerr named NFHCA Division III National Players of the Week

GENEVA, N.Y. — First-year goalkeeper from Christopher Newport University, Lily Kerr, and sophomore forward from Ithaca College, Natalie Descalso, have been named this week’s NFHCA Division III Defensive and Offensive Players of the Week sponsored by ScoreBreak, respectively.

Lily Kerr, Christopher Newport University, Fr., Goalkeeper (Annapolis, Maryland)

  • Anchored Christopher Newport’s defense in the 1-0 week for the Captains
  • Registered a career-high 13 saves in the 2-0 victory vs then-No. 13 Shenandoah University
  • This marks the second-most number of saves by a Captain in a shutout victory in school history
  • Kerr has held opposition scoreless for 192 consecutive minutes since October 2
  • Leads the nation with a .929 save percentage, while her .24 goals-against-average is the second-best in the NCAA
  • Named Coast-to-Coast Athletic Defensive Player of the Week

NFHCA Division III Offensive Player of the Week

 

Natalie Descalso, Ithaca Colege, So., Forward (San Carlos, California)

  • Scored four goals with one assist during a 3-0 week for Ithaca
  • Scored both goals, including the overtime game-winner in the 2-1 victory vs SUNY New Paltz
  • Scored the game-winner in the 2-1 double overtime victory vs St. Lawrence University
  • Scored one goal and an assist in the 5-0 victory vs Skidmore College
  • Named Liberty League Offensive Performer of the Week

The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) is a nonprofit organization serving field hockey coaches and supporters of the game from across the United States. The mission of the organization is to champion, strengthen, and celebrate field hockey coaches and the game. The NFHCA strives to cultivate and recognize the professional contributions of its membership and to foster and promote the growth of the sport.
