Brainard, Krauss NFHCA DIII Field Hockey Players of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO  —​ Marie Brainard, a senior forward/midfielder from Ursinus College, and Sophie Krauss, a sophomore goalkeeper from Colby-Sawyer College, have been named this week’s NFHCA Division III Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively. Isabelle Nahon, a sophomore defender from Hamilton College, and Caroline Kogut, a junior defender from William Smith College, also received honorable mention nods for Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week. NFHCA Division III Offensive Player of the Week​

 

Marie Brainard, Ursinus College, Senior, Forward/Midfielder (Wilmington, DE)

  • Totaled four goals and one assist for nine points during Ursinus’ 2-0 week.
  • Scored the first two goals and assisted on the final goal in a 5-2 win at DeSales.
  • Netted both Ursinus goals, including the game-winner, in a 2-1 win over then-No. 17 Lynchburg.
  • Earned Centennial Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors.

NFHCA Division III Defensive Player of the Week

 

Sophie Krauss, Colby-Sawyer College, Sophomore, Goalkeeper (Essex, VT)

  • Made 23 saves across two wins, stopping all but two shots faced for a .920 save percentage.
  • Recorded 17 saves in a 1-0 win over Plymouth State.
  • Added six saves in a 3-2 win over Keene State.
  • Earned GNAC Goalkeeper of the Week honors.

NFHCA Division III Honorable Mention

Offensive: Isabelle Nahon, Hamilton College, Senior, Defender (Westport, CT)

  • Totaled two goals and two assists, including an assist on the equalizer and the double-overtime winner against then-No. 10 Bates, during Hamilton’s 2-0 week.
  • Earned NESCAC Player of the Week honors.

Defensive: Caroline Kogut, William Smith College, Junior, Defender (Glenville, NY)

  • Contributed two goals and one assist during William Smith’s 2-1 week, adding a defensive save in overtime before scoring the game-winning goal at SUNY Geneseo.
  • Earned Liberty League Defensive Performer of the Week honors.
The NFHCA National Player of the Week program honors an offensive and defensive player of the week, in each division, throughout the season.
