Amil, Weise named Play Safe Turf & Track/NFHCA Division III National Players of the Week

BROCKPORT, N.Y. — Goalkeeper, Sara Amil, and forward, Grace Weise, both junior student-athletes from Washington and Lee University, have been named this week’s Play Safe Turf & Track/NFHCA Division III Defensive and Offensive Players of the Week, respectively.

Sara Amil, Washington and Lee University, Jr., Goalkeeper (North Caldwell, New Jersey)

Amil picked up nine saves in Washington and Lee’s two-win week to help improve their season record to 6-1. In the 5-2 win over Shenandoah University, Amil registered eight saves and faced 15 shots. Then, on Friday against Randolph-Macon, she secured a shutout — her fourth of the season.

Grace Weise, Washington and Lee University, Jr., Forward (Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania)

Weise scored her first-career hat trick last week in Washington and Lee’s 5-2 win over conference-rival Shenandoah University. She scored the first goal of Wednesday’s contest as well as the game winner and final goal of the game. Weise then added another two offensive points on Friday at Randolph-Macon University, her goal was the first of the game and also considered the game winner as the Generals went on to win 3-0.

Weise was named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Field Hockey Player of the Week on Tuesday.
