Michael, Ambrogi-Torres NFHCA DIII Field Hockey Players of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO — Ava Michael, a junior forward from Alvernia University, and Valentina Ambrogi-Torres, a junior goalkeeper from Randolph-Macon College, have been named this week’s NFHCA Division III Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively. Grace Bazin, a senior forward from Keene State College, and Maura Leib, a senior goalkeeper from SUNY Oneonta, also received honorable mention nods for Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week.
NFHCA Division III Offensive Player of the Week
Ava Michael, Alvernia University, Junior, Forward (Bloomsburg, PA)
- Scored all six of Alvernia’s goals across two wins, including a double-overtime game-winner at Hood.
- Named MAC Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Week.
NFHCA Division III Defensive Player of the Week
Valentina Ambrogi-Torres, Randolph-Macon College, Junior, Goalkeeper (Richmond, VA)
- Recorded 10 saves across two pivotal ODAC wins to help Randolph-Macon secure the No. 4 seed in the conference tournament.
- Named ODAC Defensive Player of the Week.
NFHCA Division III Honorable Mention
Offensive: Grace Bazin, Keene State College, Senior, Forward (Westminster, VT)
- Recorded three goals and two assists in two conference wins that secured the No. 2 seed for Keene State in the LEC Tournament.
- Named Little East Conference Offensive Player of the Week.
Defensive: Maura Leib, SUNY Oneonta, Senior, Goalkeeper (East Syracuse, NY)
- Registered 30 saves in a 1-1 week for the Red Dragons, including 13 in a 3-2 win over RPI.
- Named SUNYAC Defensive Player of the Week.
