BROCKPORT, N.Y. — Valerie Lohr, director of student well-being and head field hockey coach at Saint Mary’s Hall in Texas, will present “Ownership and Accountability” to attendees of the 2022 NFHCA Annual Convention.
Her presentation will focus on teaching coaches how to foster authentic and engaged teams from the ground up by identifying core values, learning and teaching communication skills through the DISC assessment, and building trust. Lohr’s approach is focused specifically on applying concepts to student-athletes between the ages of 5 and 22. Coaches will be able to attend Lohr’s session in the afternoon on Thursday, January 13, 2022.
Valerie Lohr is currently serving as the director of student well-being and head field hockey coach at Saint Mary’s Hall in San Antonio, Texas. Prior to her move to the Lone Star State, she served as the first head coach in the history of Allegheny College field hockey. She also was the first head coach in program history at Pace University.
Lohr played both field hockey and lacrosse at Lehigh University. She was selected to the 2001 Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, and received the COACHES Award for leadership excellence, and the Treen Scholarship for Academic Merit. After graduating in 2002 with a double major in political science and history, she went on to earn a juris doctorate from Penn State’s Dickinson School of Law and admission to the Pennsylvania Bar in 2006. In 2020, she began pursuing a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling. She also served as an adjunct faculty member and the Title IX Deputy at Allegheny.
2022 NFHCA Annual Convention
The 2022 NFHCA Annual Convention incorporates NFHCA business meetings, on-field educational sessions, a variety of speakers, the NFHCA Awards Dinner sponsored by AstroTurf, and multiple opportunities for attendees to connect with their colleagues. The NFHCA Annual Convention is where coaches from all levels gather yearly to connect, learn, and grow.
The 2022 NFHCA Annual Convention will take place between January 11 — 13, 2022 at the Orlando Marriott Lake Mary in Lake Mary, Florida. NFHCA members can register online.
