GILBERT, Ariz. — The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) is excited to offer the the Ready2Coach on-field clinic again this year at the 2020 NFHCA Annual Convention. The outdoor sessions, powered by Longstreth, will take place at the Boombah Sports Complex — the site of the NFHCA’s Winter Escape Showcase — on Thursday, January 16, 2020.

Coaches will be welcomed to the turf fields on Thursday afternoon to rotate through four stations focused on tactical and technical concepts. Two of the Annual Convention’s featured speakers will take their talents to the outdoor clinics — Matt Taylor and Nicola Pitticas will each be demonstrating attacking concepts to coaches. They will be joined by David Williamson, assistant coach at Monmouth University, and Pam Stuper and Jess Barnett from Yale University. Williamson will be presenting on goalkeeping concepts while Stuper and Barnett will focus on defense.

Advanced Elimination Skills — Matt Taylor

An in-depth look at 3D skills and first-time passes with a special focus on grip, footwork, body angle, vision, and ball positioning. This practical session will be supported with video, active demonstrations, and detailed teaching notes.

Attacking with Purpose — Nicola Pitticas

The name says it all! This station will focus on elimination skills and early decision-making to guide attackers’ effectiveness

Defense, Defense, Defense — Pam Stuper, Jess Barnett

Teaching, evolving, and elevating the individual defense of your players while also adhering to a team-driven defensive mentality in your team pressing options.

Goalkeeping — David Williamson

Pick up some great goalkeeping drills and technical concepts at this station devoted to field hockey’s netminders.

 

The Ready2Coach on field clinics powered by Longstreth are included in the 2020 NFHCA Annual Convention registration, but new this year, this session can be purchased independently for $100. Coaches who are bringing a team the NFHCA Winter Escape Showcase will receive a $25 discount when they register for the Ready2Coach session.
