NFHCA announces 2023 NFHCA Division II Regional Players of the Year

Regional Player of the Year

GENEVA, N.Y. — Krista Dietz from Pace University and Jady van Gils from East Stroudsburg University were selected to represent their respective region as the NFHCA Division II Regional Player of the Year. Each regional award winner is now in the running for NFHCA Division II National Player of the Year honors.

Atlantic Region

Jady van Gils, East Stroudsburg University, Jr., Midfielder (Amersfoort, The Netherlands)

  • 2023 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Athlete of the Year
  • All-PSAC First Team
  • PSAC Tournament MVP
  • Ranked second on the team in points (25), tied for second in goals (10) and assists (5)
  • Led ESU to a 18-3 overall record, a regular season and postseason PSAC title (scoring the game-winning goal) and a return trip to the NCAA Division II final
  • This is van Gils first NFHCA Atlantic Region Player of the Year honor

East Region

Krista Dietz, Pace University, Jr., Forward (Mahopac, New York)

  • Named Northeast-10 Conference (NE10) Player of the Year
  • NE10 First Team
  • Led the country in goals (24) assists (14), assists per game (.67), points (62), and points per game (2.95)
  • Recorded 100th career point (Sep. 16) to become school record holder for career points
  • Named NFHCA Offensive Player of the Week (Oct. 25)
  • This is Pace’s first NFHCA East Region Player of the Year honor

The NFHCA Division II Regional Player of the Year announcement is the first in a list of postseason awards from the NFHCA. The NFHCA Division II All-American team will be released on December 12 and the NFHCA Division II National Player of the Year will be announced on December 15.

The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) is a nonprofit organization serving field hockey coaches and supporters of the game from across the United States. The mission of the organization is to stimulate the professional development of coaching leadership within the sport of field hockey. The NFHCA strives to cultivate and recognize the professional contributions of its membership and to foster and promote the growth of the sport. The NFHCA is responsible for providing a recognizable presence and voice in regard to legislation affecting the sport as well as interscholastic and intercollegiate programs.
