GILBERT, Ariz. — Kate McLaughlin from New Trier High School in Winnetka, Illinois has been named the Play Safe Turf & Track/NFHCA High School Player of the Month.

Kate McLaughlin, New Trier High School, 2020, Forward (Winnetka, Illinois)

In the month of October, McLaughlin tallied an impressive 73 points for New Trier High School. Her 32 goals and nine assists last month led her team to the 2019 Illinois State Championship and a new state record for most goals in a single season. In recognition of her record-breaking performance, McLaughlin was honored as the 2019 Illinois State Player of the Year.

Grace Jennings, Winston Churchill High School, 2023, Midfielder (Potomac, Maryland)

Jennings scored 10 goals in the month of October to help her Winston Churchill High School team to a 7-0 record. Six of her 10 goals were game winners and of the team’s eight goals recorded in the October postseason, Jennings accounted for half of them. Notably, she tallied a hattrick in the Bulldogs’ regional final game on October 30.

Abby Tamer, Dexter High School, 2021, Midfielder (Dexter, Michigan)

Tamer’s 11 goals and eight assists in the month of October — as well as her defensive effort which led her team to five shutouts — secured the 2019 Division I State Championships for Dexter High School. In the state championship tournament, Dexter recorded three-consecutive shutouts — Tamer contributed 12 points offensively and was a part of a defensive unit that allowed no goals against.
