MANAHAWKIN, NJ — The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Laura Gebhart to the role of Division I Representative on the Board of Directors. Gebhart steps into the position following the election of former DI representative Georgia Holland to the seat of Vice President of Finances.

“I’m honored to be appointed as the Division I representative for the NFHCA Board of Directors,” said Gebhart. “This role provides an incredible opportunity to advocate for our sport, support the growth of field hockey, and collaborate with coaches across levels and divisions. I look forward to contributing to the continued success of the association and representing the interests of my fellow Division I coaches.”

Gebhart brings a wealth of experience to the NFHCA Board of Directors. She was recently named the head coach of Fairfield University Field Hockey on February 6, after spending four seasons with the Penn State field hockey program. She joined Penn State as an assistant coach in 2021 and 2022, helping the Nittany Lions reach the NCAA Tournament both seasons, including a semifinal appearance in 2022. Gebhart was elevated to Associate Head Coach in 2023, holding that role for two seasons. Over her four-year tenure, she helped guide Penn State to a 48-27 overall record, including two seasons with 14 or more victories. Prior to arriving at Penn State, she spent two seasons at Bryant University, first as an assistant coach before eventually taking over the program as head coach for the 2021 season. Gebhart began her collegiate coaching career as a volunteer assistant with the University of Vermont during the 2018 season.

Beyond her coaching experience, Gebhart has been a dedicated contributor to the NFHCA, serving as the Hall of Fame Committee Chair since 2021, a role in which she is set to begin her second term. She has also served on the Midwest All-Region Committee and as an NFHCA Regional Ready2Coach and Coaches Corner coach educator, sharing her expertise with fellow coaches and supporting the professional development of the coaching community.

With her deep-rooted commitment to the sport and leadership experience, Gebhart is well-positioned to advocate for Division I field hockey coaches and contribute meaningfully to the NFHCA’s mission. The NFHCA is excited to welcome her to this important role and looks forward to her leadership and service.
