Kennedy, Zanolli named Play Safe Turf & Track/NFHCA Division I National Players of the Week

BROCKPORT, N.Y. — Junior goalkeeper from No. 10 Boston College, Jonna Kennedy, and senior forward from No. 16 Stanford University, Corinne Zanolli, have been named this week’s Play Safe Turf & Track/NFHCA Division I Defensive and Offensive Players of the Week, respectively.

Jonna Kennedy, Boston College, Jr., Goalkeeper (Watertown, Massachusetts)

Kennedy made a career-high 21 saves as No. 10 Boston College beat No. 11 Syracuse University for a 2-1 ACC win in double-overtime on Friday. Her 21 saves were the third-highest single-game total in BC program history and came two days after Kennedy played 45 minutes in a 5-0 win at University of Massachusetts, Amherst, helping the Eagles to their fourth shutout of the spring season.

Kennedy was named Atlantic Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday. This is Kennedy’s second NFHCA Defensive Player of the Week honor this season.

Play Safe Turf & Track/NFHCA Division I Offensive Player of the Week

 

Corinne Zanolli, Stanford University, Sr., Forward (Newtown Square, Pennsylvania)

Zanolli recorded 16 offensive points on seven goals and two assists for No. 16 Stanford University last week. Early in the week against University of California, Berkeley, Zanolli scored once and assisted once in the 5-1 win. Then, on Friday in a 7-3 victory over University of California, Davis, she notched four goals and assisted on one other. To round out the week, Zanolli collected two more goals in Stanford’s 3-0 win over Cal. She was credited with the game-winning goals in each of the three games. 

Zanolli currently leads Stanford and the America East Conference in goals (11) and points (25). She leads the nation in goals-per-game.
