GENEVA, N.Y. — The Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Multiracial Students Leadership Academy, a virtual program, invites current women’s lacrosse and field hockey student-athletes from the IWLCA and National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) member institutions who self-identify as members of the BIPOC community. Open for applications until December 22, 2023, the academy, scheduled from January 7 to 18, 2024, aims to empower BIPOC student-athletes to cultivate personal leadership skills within the sport. The academy will accept the first 12 qualifying applications.

Facilitated by a diverse group of coaches, the program comprises six sessions with formal presentations and small group discussions, fostering a sense of community and providing networking opportunities. Emphasizing personal development, improved leadership skills, and community building, the initiative offers underrepresented groups in women’s lacrosse and field hockey the chance to transcend boundaries and connect with coaches. The program is cost-free, and selected participants, notified by December 23, 2023, must confirm their attendance by December 29, 2023. The NFHCA expresses gratitude to the IWLCA for including our student-athletes in this exceptional professional development opportunity.
