Hendry, van Boetzelaer named Play Safe/NFHCA Division I National Players of the Week

BROCKPORT, N.Y. — Amanda Hendry, senior goalkeeper from the University of North Carolina, and Florine van Boetzelaer, freshman midfielder from Syracuse University, have been named this week’s Play Safe/NFHCA Division I Defensive and Offensive Players of the Week, respectively.

Amanda Hendry, University of North Carolina, Sr., Goalkeeper (Wilton, Connecticut)

Hendry’s performance last week earned her the second-highest saves total of her career. She collected seven saves in the University of North Carolina’s Sunday 5-1 win over the University of Virginia. Eight of the Cavaliers’ 10 shots were on goal and Hendry stopped all but one.

Hendry was named ACC Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday.

Play Safe/NFHCA Division I Offensive Player of the Week

 

Florine van Boetzelaer, Syracuse University, Fr., Midfielder (Oosterbeek, Netherlands)

On Saturday, van Boetzelaer came off the bench to score two goals in Syracuse’s 4-3 win over Duke University. Each of her goals tied the score in a back-and-forth match that culminated in the Orange’s first win of the season. Through three games van Boetzelaer leads the team in goals scored and offensive points with three and six, respectively.

Van Boetzelaer was named ACC Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday.
