Hamers, Deverka NFHCA DI Field Hockey Players of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO  — Fleur Hamers, a sophomore midfielder from Drexel University, and Aby Deverka, a junior goalkeeper from Penn State University, have been named this week’s NFHCA Division I Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively. Clare Larripa, a senior forward/midfielder from the University of Richmond, and Merritt Skubisz, a sophomore goalkeeper from the University of North Carolina, also received honorable mention nods for Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week. NFHCA Division I Offensive Player of the Week

Fleur Hamers, Drexel University, Sophomore, Midfielder (Enschede, Netherlands)

• Recorded five goals and one assist for 11 points in a 2-0 week for the Dragons.
• Scored four goals in Drexel’s win over LIU.
• Assisted the opening goal and scored the overtime game-winner in a 4-3 win over Saint Joseph’s.
• Named the CAA Offensive Player of the Week.

NFHCA Division I Defensive Player of the Week

Aby Deverka, Penn State, Junior, Goalkeeper (Houston, TX)

• Made 13 saves and allowed only one goal across a pair of wins for the Nittany Lions.
• Posted a .929 save percentage and 0.50 goals-against average for the week.
• Recorded four saves in a shutout of Villanova and added nine saves in a 2-1 road win over Delaware.
• Earned Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week honors.

NFHCA Division I Honorable Mention

Offensive: Clara Larripa, University of Richmond, Senior, Forward/Midfielder (Buenos Aires, Argentina)

• Registered four goals and one assist for nine points, scoring the game-winner at American before recording a hat trick and an assist at Longwood.
• Earned Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Week honors for the second consecutive week.

Defensive: Merritt Skubisz, University of North Carolina, Sophomore, Goalkeeper (Houston, TX)

• Recorded shutout wins against Penn and then-No. 2 Princeton to earn ACC Defensive Player of the Week honors.
• Made five saves against Princeton and stopped the Tigers’ first three shootout attempts to help North Carolina secure the win.
