Gatehouse named 2022 NFHCA Division II National Scholar-Athlete

GENEVA, N.Y. — Sarah Gatehouse from Kutztown University has been named this year’s NFHCA Division II National Scholar-Athletes.
The NFHCA National Scholar-Athlete honor is presented annually to the Division II All-American who earns the highest cumulative grade-point average through the first semester of the current academic year.
Sarah Gatehouse, a junior defender from Kutztown University, was a 2022 NFHCA Division II First-Team All-American and a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) All-Conference First-Team selection. Starting all 19 games, Gatehouse led Kutztown with ten assists – a personal career high and second-most in the PSAC. Gatehouse played a critical part in Kutztown’s 10 shutouts, earning her PSAC Defensive Athlete of the Week twice. Gatehouse is a three-time NFHCA Division II National Academic Squad and Scholar of Distinction honoree. Majoring in sport management, she was also awarded PSAC Field Hockey Champion Scholar award for her work in the classroom having maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA
Gatehouse is the second student-athlete from Kutztown to receive the National Scholar-Athlete award. Leigh Roselli received the award in 2021.
The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) is a nonprofit organization serving field hockey coaches and supporters of the game from across the United States. The mission of the organization is to champion, strengthen, and celebrate field hockey coaches and the game. The NFHCA strives to cultivate and recognize the professional contributions of its membership and to foster and promote the growth of the sport. The NFHCA is responsible for providing a recognizable presence and voice in regard to legislation affecting the sport as well as interscholastic and intercollegiate programs.
