Gargiulo, Petrantonio named NFHCA Division II National Players of the Week
BROCKPORT, N.Y. — Senior goalkeeper from No. 2 Assumption University, Kylie Gargiulo, and senior forward/midfielder from No. 1 Shippensburg University, Jazmin Petrantonio, have been named this week’s NFHCA Division II Defensive and Offensive Players of the Week, respectively.
NFHCA Division II Defensive Player of the Week
Kylie Gargiulo, No. 2 Assumption University, Sr., Goalkeeper (Madison, Connecticut)
- Registered 16 saves through 180 minutes of NE10 Championship tournament action, helping No. 2 Assumption to it’s first-ever NE10 Championship in program history
- Made two saves in the Monday quarterfinal against St. Thomas Aquinas, then added four more in the semifinals against Pace on Thursday
- Registered 10 saves in the title game, including four in the fourth quarter as the Greyhounds held off No. 6 Adelphi 3-2
- Named NE10 Tournament Most Outstanding Player
- This is Gargiulo’s second-consecutive and third-overall Player of the Week honor this season
NFHCA Division II Offensive Player of the Week
Jazmin Petrantonio, No. 1 Shippensburg University, Sr., Forward/Midfielder (Saenz Pena, Argentina)
- Tallied a pair of goals and an assist for five offensive points in the PSAC tournament
- Scored the game-winning goal on Friday in the semifinals against No. 5 Millersville University
- Assisted on the game-tying goal and scored the game winner in the championship final against No. 3 West Chester handing Ship their first PSAC tournament title since 2005
- Named PSAC Championship Tournament Most Valuable Player
- This is Petrantonio’s third Player of the Week honor this season
The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) is a nonprofit organization serving field hockey coaches and supporters of the game from across the United States. The mission of the organization is to champion, strengthen, and celebrate field hockey coaches and the game. The NFHCA strives to cultivate and recognize the professional contributions of its membership and to foster and promote the growth of the sport. The NFHCA is responsible for providing a recognizable presence and voice in regard to legislation affecting the sport as well as interscholastic and intercollegiate programs.
