Parker, Shaffer named NFHCA Division II National Players of the Week

GENEVA, N.Y. — Senior goalkeeper from Bloomsburg University, Abby Shaffer, and senior midfielder from No. 1 East Stroudsburg University, have been named this week’s NFHCA Division II Defensive and Offensive Players of the Week sponsored by ScoreBreak, respectively.
NFHCA Division II Defensive Player of the Week
Abby Shaffer, Bloomsburg University, Sr., Goalkeeper (Harrisburg, Pennsylvania)
- Made 26 saves during the 1-1 week in the cage
- Made nine saves against then-No. 9 Mansfield University
- Made a career-best 17 saves against then-No. 1 Shippensburg University
- Ranks third in the NCAA with a 0.833 save percentage
- Ranks 10th in the NCAA with a 1.42 goals against average and ninth with 7.33 saves per game
- Named PSAC Defensive Player of the Week
NFHCA Division II Offensive Player of the Week
Lia Parker, No. 1 East Stroudsburg University, Sr., Midfielder (East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania)
- Totaled five points on two goals and an assist in a 2-0 week for the Warriors
- Assisted on a goal in ESU’s 3-2 victory over then-No. 3 West Chester University
- Scored a pair of goals in the 5-0 victory vs Frostburg State University
- Tied for fourth on the team with 16 points, tied for third in assists (4) and fourth in goals (6)
- Named PSAC Athlete of the Week
The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) is a nonprofit organization serving field hockey coaches and supporters of the game from across the United States. The mission of the organization is to champion, strengthen, and celebrate field hockey coaches and the game. The NFHCA strives to cultivate and recognize the professional contributions of its membership and to foster and promote the growth of the sport. The NFHCA is responsible for providing a recognizable presence and voice in regard to legislation affecting the sport as well as interscholastic and intercollegiate programs.
