Bruder, Caponiti NFHCA DI Field Hockey Players of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO  — Charly Bruder, a junior forward from the University of North Carolina, and Olivia Caponiti, a junior goalkeeper from Princeton University, have been named this week’s NFHCA Division I Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively. Beth Yeager, a senior midfielder from Princeton University, and Sadie Canelli, a sophomore goalkeeper from Indiana University, also received honorable mention nods for Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week.

NFHCA Division I Offensive Player of the Week

 

Charly Bruder, University of North Carolina, Junior, Forward (Malvern, PA)

  • Recorded a hat trick and the game-winning goal with 19 seconds remaining to lift North Carolina to a 4-3 comeback victory over then-No. 9 Syracuse.
  • Totaled four goals and two assists to help the Tar Heels secure road wins over Syracuse and Cornell.
  • Recognized as the ACC Offensive Player of the Week.

NFHCA Division I Defensive Player of the Week

 

Olivia Caponiti, Princeton University, Junior, Goalkeeper (Rye, NY)

  • Anchored the Princeton defense in a 3-0 week, including wins over then-No.1 Northwestern and then-No. 13 Monmouth.
  • Made six saves in the 3-2 victory over Northwestern, including two clutch stops on penalty corners in the final 30 seconds to seal the upset.
  • Honored as the Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week.

NFHCA Division I Honorable Mention

Offensive: Beth Yeager, Princeton University, Senior, Midfielder (Greenwich, CT)

  • Tallied four goals and one assist to lead Princeton to a 3-0 week, including wins over then-No. 1 Northwestern and then-No. 13 Monmouth.
  • Named the Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week.

Defensive: Sadie Canelli, Indiana University, Sophomore, Goalkeeper (Boxford, MA)

  • Posted a .792 save percentage while totaling 19 saves across three games, including ranked wins over then-No. 10 Maryland and Penn State.
  • Named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week.

The NFHCA National Player of the Week program honors an offensive and defensive player of the week, in each division, throughout the season.
