Since 1997, the NFHCA has been publishing the National Coaches Polls for each NCAA division. Compiled throughout the collegiate season, the polls are voted on by NFHCA-designated coaches representing conferences across the country, with each divisional membership group determining its respective poll format.
The NFHCA Coaches Polls are intended to provide a weekly snapshot of the nation’s top-performing programs based on results, strength of competition, and the perspective of the sport’s coaching community. Beginning after the second week of regular season competition, teams must maintain a .500 record or better to be eligible for ranking consideration.
These rankings reflect the collective assessment of the designated voting coaches each week and are designed to recognize performance on a national scale. The Coaches Polls are independent of the NCAA Championship selection process and are not intended to predict or determine postseason qualification or seeding.
Details
The Penn Monto/NFHCA Coaches Polls are weekly composite rankings of the nation’s top teams across NCAA Division I, II, and III field hockey. Each poll is compiled through ballots submitted by NFHCA-designated NFHCA Coaches Poll Committee member coaches representing their respective conferences.
- Division I rankings include the nation’s top 20 teams, with one designated voting coach representing each conference.
- Division II rankings include the nation’s top 10 teams, with two designated voting coaches representing each conference.
- Division III rankings include the nation’s top 25 teams, with one designated voting coach representing each conference.
The 2026 Preseason Polls for all three divisions will be released on August 25. The first regular season polls will be released on September 1 for Division I, and September 8 for Division II and Division III, following the opening weekend of competition for each division. The final 2026 Coaches Polls will be released on November 10. The 2026 NCAA National Championships for Divisions I, II, and III are all scheduled for Sunday, November 22.
