NFHCA announces 2022 NFHCA Division III Regional Players of the Year
GENEVA, N.Y. — Six student-athletes were selected to represent their respective region as the NFHCA Division III Regional Player of the Year. Each regional award winner is now in the running for NFHCA National Player of the Year honors.
Region I
Berit Sharrow, Babson College, So., Defender (Denver, Colorado)
- Named to NFHCA Division III Region I, First Team
- NEWMAC Defensive Player of the Year
- All-NEWMAC First Team selection
- NEWMAC Tournament MVP
- Anchored the nation’s 21st-ranked defense to eight shutouts with four defensive saves while contributing four goals and six assists to the offense
Region II
Emily Batchelor, Williams College, Sr., Midfielder (Sherborn, Massachusetts)
- Named to NFHCA Division III Region II, First Team
- NESCAC Player of the Year
- All-NESCAC First Team
- Named to NCAA All-Tournament team
- Broke the Eph’s single season goals (20) record
- Led the Ephs and the NESCAC in goals (20)
Region III
Karina Bridger, University of Rochester, Sr., Forward (Briarcliff, New York)
- Named to NFHCA Division III Region III, First Team
- Liberty League Offensive Player of the Year
- All-Liberty League First-Team selection
- Named to 2022 NFHCA Division III Senior Team
- Finished the season with nineteen points on four goals and a team leading 11 assists
Region IV
Kristiina Castagnola, Rowan University, Gr., Midfielder (Voorhees, New Jersey)
- Named to NFHCA Division III Region IV, First Team
- NJAC Midfielder of the Year
- All-NJAC First-Team
- Rowan’s all-time leading scorer with 163 points (66 goals, 31 assists)
- Selected to the NCAA Division III Field Hockey Championship All-Tournament Team
- Finished the season with 52 points on 21 goals and 10 assists
Region V
Abby Birk, Johns Hopkins University, Gr., Midfielder (Louisville, Kentucky)
- Named to NFHCA Division III Region V, First Team
- All-Centennial Conference First-Team selection
- Centennial Conference Tournament MVP
- Selected to the NCAA Division III Field Hockey Championship All-Tournament Team
- Led Hopkins in points (36) and assists (10) and ranks second in goals (13)
- Holds the Hopkins record for career assists (44)
Region VI
Allie Davis, Salisbury University, Sr., Forward/Midfielder (Wilmington, Delaware)
- Named to NFHCA Division III Region VI, First Team
- Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Year
- All-Coast-to-Coast First-Team selection
- Coast-to-Coast All-Tournament MVP
- Selected to 2022 NFHCA Division III Senior Team
- Named Coast-to-Coast Offensive Player of the Week three times
- Led the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference in goals (19) and points (43)
The NFHCA Division III Regional Player of the Year announcement is the second in a list of postseason awards from the NFHCA. Last week the 2022 NFHCA Division III All-Region teams were announced. The Division III All-American teams will be announced on December 13 and the NFHCA National Player of the Year on December 15.

The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) is a nonprofit organization serving field hockey coaches and supporters of the game from across the United States. The mission of the organization is to champion, strengthen, and celebrate field hockey coaches and the game. The NFHCA strives to cultivate and recognize the professional contributions of its membership and to foster and promote the growth of the sport. The NFHCA is responsible for providing a recognizable presence and voice in regard to legislation affecting the sport as well as interscholastic and intercollegiate programs.
