Manahawkin, NJ - For over two decades, Regan Marscher has been a dedicated mentor, coach, and advocate for young athletes. Since taking the helm as the Head Field Hockey Coach at Conestoga High School in 2019, she has cultivated a culture of excellence, guiding her team to five undefeated Central League titles (2020-2024), two District 1 Championship titles (2021, 2023), and multiple deep runs in the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) state tournament—including the program’s first-ever Pennsylvania AAA State Championship in 2024. Her leadership earned her recognition as Max Field Hockey’s National and Pennsylvania Coach of the Year for 2024.

A proud Conestoga alumna, Marscher’s legacy in athletics began as a three-sport athlete, earning All-Central League, All-Main Line, and All-State honors in field hockey. She continued her athletic journey at Rutgers University, where she played lacrosse, was a four-year starter, and served as team captain in her senior year. Her passion for coaching has taken her from youth teams to the collegiate level, with stints at Boston College and Long Island University. She is committed to fostering a “family” atmosphere among her athletes, emphasizing personal growth alongside competitive success.

Beyond the field, Marscher serves as the regional chair of the NFHCA All-American Committee for the Pennsylvania region. For her, giving back to the sport that shaped her is a responsibility she embraces wholeheartedly.

Giving Back to the Game

“The NFHCA works tirelessly to serve the sport of field hockey. I serve as a volunteer because I’ve always felt that it’s important to give back in any area which has provided you with life lessons and joy!” Marscher shares. She has been serving on the All-American Committee as the Pennsylvania chair for the past two years, and she has attended the NFHCA National Convention as a scholastic member for several years. “The All-American Committee is a wonderful group advocating for the athletes in their region. It’s been a really positive experience and I’ve enjoyed getting to know the other regional chairs. Convention is a wonderful place to network and learn about advancements in the sport—it’s like field hockey community heaven!”

Lessons in Leadership

Through her time serving with the NFHCA, Marscher has discovered the value of stepping up to contribute. “I’ve learned that you can always make time for areas that are important to you. I think many people shy away from volunteering because they think they don’t have the time or energy, or the labels or titles of positions may intimidate them. Ultimately, it’s important to step up, and you do have time!”

She credits Chrissy Summers, NFHCA Junior Hockey Award recipient and former NFHCA VP of Sport Development board member, as a key mentor in her coaching journey. “When I began coaching field hockey in 2018, Chrissy both challenged me and guided me. She gave me confidence and assured me that my toolkit as a collegiate lacrosse player and long-time coach was transferable. I was overwhelmed at first, but she was in my corner and helped me tremendously. Sometimes you just need a cheerleader who sees greatness in you from a different perspective.”

Advocating for Scholastic Coaches

Marscher sees immense value in the NFHCA for high school coaches and urges her peers to take advantage of the organization’s resources. “The NFHCA offers networking and growth opportunities not only for yourself as a coach, but it also bridges the gap between scholastic and college. In addition to offering the ability to advocate for your players, it’s a great way to feel connected to the sport on a broader scope. Also, the resources—like Drill of the Week—are awesome!”

With a deep love for the game and a commitment to the athletes she mentors, Marscher embodies the spirit of the NFHCA: fostering excellence, building connections, and giving back to the sport that has given her so much. The field hockey community is stronger because of leaders like her.
