Kristiina Castagnola tabbed as NFHCA Division III National Player of the Year
GENEVA, N.Y. — Kristiina Castagnola, a graduate student midfielder from Rowan University, has been named the NFHCA Division III National Player of the Year.
- Named the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Midfielder of the Year for the second year in a row and named to the All-NJAC First Team for the fourth time
- Had a personal-best 21 goals and 10 assists, including six game-winning goals, to help Rowan to a 21-2 record, its second straight appearance in the NCAA semifinals and back-to-back NJAC titles
- Named to the NCAA Division III Championship All-Tournament team in consecutive years
- Ends her career as Rowan’s all-time leading scorer with 163 points (66 goals, 31 assists)
- Four-time All-Region IV selection, earning first-team honors for the past three seasons
- Selected as the NFHCA Region IV Player of the Year and an NFHCA Division III First-Team All-American for the second straight year
- Becomes Rowan’s first-ever NFHCA National Player of the Year
The NFHCA National Player of the Year announcement is the final announcement in a list of postseason, athletic awards from the NFHCA. The NFHCA will announce academic awards in February.

The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) is a nonprofit organization serving field hockey coaches and supporters of the game from across the United States. The mission of the organization is to champion, strengthen, and celebrate field hockey coaches and the game. The NFHCA strives to cultivate and recognize the professional contributions of its membership and to foster and promote the growth of the sport. The NFHCA is responsible for providing a recognizable presence and voice in regard to legislation affecting the sport as well as interscholastic and intercollegiate programs.
