Why is the event being held in Florida?

The NFHCA is contractually and financially obligated to move forward with the NFHCA Annual Convention meeting venue in Florida.  The venue and location of major meetings such as the Annual Convention and Winter Escape Showcase are secured year(s) in advance of the actual event dates.

Things can change after the event location has been booked and years in advance of the Annual Convention.  State and local laws may change over time and run counter to members’ values.  Canceling or moving an event can also have large financial impacts not only on the association, but also on the local people who rely on the tourism business as a career.  Boycotting a destination that has already been secured years in advance can actually serve to create further division and is not always considered effective in making social change.  Read more here about bringing the NFHCA’s values to Florida.

We remain resolute in our vision, mission, and values as an organization. Hosting the Annual Convention in Florida has been a point of discussion among staff and some board members since January 2023.  It is extremely disappointing and disheartening to observe the opposition to specific DEI initiatives in the state of Florida.  These actions do not align with our values as an Association.  We will not allow politics or geography to detract or distract from our mission, values, or inclusivity as an Association.  The NFHCA Annual Convention will continue to be a welcoming and inclusive environment, and it is up to all of us as members to cultivate a culture of inclusion.

We will continue to explore all possibilities and variables for future Convention sites and recruiting events, taking numerous factors into consideration.  We are contractually obligated to remain in Florida for the 2024 and 2025 Annual Conventions.

If I am awarded a scholarship and have already purchased an event pass, will I be refunded?

Yes! Annual Convention Scholarship recipients who have already registered to attend the event will receive a full refund by December 15.

How do I sign up to be an exhibitor at the event?

Exhibitor information, including a detailed exhibitor packet, is available on our Exhibitor page.

What is the refund policy?
