Baroni, Lakin named NFHCA Division III National Players of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO  — Penny Baroni, a sophomore forward/midfielder from Babson College, and Myles Lakin, a sophomore goalkeeper from Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), have been named this week’s NFHCA Division III Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively. Ami Mattingly, a senior forward from Penn State University – Harrisburg and Sydney White, a sophomore goalkeeper from Montclair State University, also received honorable mention nods for Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week.

NFHCA Division III Defensive Player of the Week

 

Myles Lakin, Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Sophomore, Goalkeeper (Reading, MA)

  • Named the season’s first NEWMAC Defensive Athlete of the Week
  • Made fourteen total saves in two shutout wins over Roger Williams and the University of New England

NFHCA Division III Offensive Player of the Week

 

 Penny Baroni, Babson College, Sophomore, Forward/Midfielder (Dennis, MA)

  • Voted the season’s first NEWMAC Offensive Athlete of the Week
  • Tallied nine points on the weekend, playing a part in all but one of the Beaver’s goals in a 2-0 weekend
  • Notched first career hat trick, scored the game-winner versus Endicott, and delivered the game-winner on a penalty stroke in the win over No. 22 Swarthmore

NFHCA Division III Honorable Mention

Defensive: Sydney White, Montclair State University, Sophomore, Goalkeeper (Oxford, NJ)

  • Claimed the season’s first NJAC Defensive Player of the Week honor
  • Recorded six saves and earned a shutout win over No. 12 SUNY Cortland

Offensive: Ami Mattingly, Pennsylvania State University-Harrisburg, Senior, Forward (Mechanicsburg, PA)

  • Named the season’s first United East Conference Offensive Player of the Week
  • Scored both game winners in Penn State Harrisburg’s 2-0 weekend with six goals and one assist

The NFHCA National Player of the Week program honors an offensive and defensive player of the week, in each division, throughout the season.
