Scipio, Viola named Play Safe Turf & Track/NFHCA Division III National Players of the Week
BROCKPORT, N.Y. — Freshman midfielder, Kourtney Scipio, and junior forward, Abigail Viola, both from William Paterson University, have been named this week’s Play Safe Turf & Track/NFHCA Division III Defensive and Offensive Players of the Week, respectively.

Kourtney Scipio, William Paterson University, Fr., Midfielder (South Plainfield, New Jersey)
Scipio helped William Paterson University record a shutout last Thursday during their double-overtime NJAC tournament semifinal victory over Stockton University. Then on Sunday in the title game against Ramapo College, she recorded a defensive save late in the second period to keep the scored tied — the Pioneers went on to secure the NJAC tournament championship with a 2-1 win.
Scipio was named New Jersey Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday.
Play Safe Turf & Track/NFHCA Division II Offensive Player of the Week
Abigail Viola, William Paterson University, Jr., Forward (Monroe Township, New Jersey)
Viola had a hand in both of William Paterson University’s goals in the NJAC tournament championship last Sunday. She assisted on the first goal of the game in the second period, then scored the game winner 38 seconds into the third period to give the Pioneers a lead they would hold until the final whistle blew. The title win garnered WP their fourth NJAC championship. Viola finished the season leading WP in assists (3) and shots (10).
Viola was named New Jersey Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday.
