Meghan Stocks to speak at VCC 2021

BROCKPORT, N.Y. — The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) is pleased to announce that founder and director of So Field Hockey, Meghan Stocks, will speak at the 2021 Virtual Coaches’ Caucus.

Meghan will present “Comfortable to Act: A Roadmap to Stepping Up.”

The session, centered within a secure and shame-free environment, will help coaches learn how to identify and leverage privilege, power, and race dynamics through sport. This workshop will provide actionable steps to overcome the paralyzing question of “how can I help?” Participants will leave enlightened, engaged, and empowered to join field hockey’s growing community of change with two on-field lesson plans that invite anti-racism work into your team environment.

Meghan Stocks

Meghan Stocks is the founder and director of So Field Hockey, a developmental grassroots program, and its nonprofit counterpart, The So Sports Foundation.

Established in 2019, So Field Hockey’s mission is to increase the visibility, affordability, and accessibility of field hockey for all participants. So Sports hosts equipment drives, refurbishes gear, and provides camp scholarships to reduce financial barriers.

An alumna of the University of Richmond field hockey program, Meghan is an NCAA and high school official and middle school coach in Norfolk, Virginia where she also teaches.

2021 Virtual Coaches’ Caucus

The Virtual Coaches’ Caucus (VCC) is slated to be a dynamic, online gathering of NFHCA members and field hockey coaches. The VCC will incorporate NFHCA business meetings, educational sessions, a variety of speakers, awards ceremonies, and opportunities for attendees to connect with their field hockey colleagues.

The VCC will take place between January 5 — 10, 2021, with professional development components mainly taking place on January 9 and 10. Registration will open in September.
