NFHCA Proudly Announces 2024 National Coaching Staffs of the Year

Regional Coaching Staff of the Year(2)

LAKE MARY, Fla. — Honoring the highest level of accomplishment in collegiate field hockey, Division I National Champions Northwestern University, Division II National Champions Saint Anselm College, and Division III National Runner-Up Tufts University have been named their respective division’s National Coaching Staff of the Year for their performances in the 2024 season.

The NFHCA National Coaching Staff of the Year awards were announced Thursday evening at the Hall of Fame Awards Dinner sponsored by AstroTurf at the NFHCA Annual Convention

Division I

Northwestern University

Tracey Fuchs, Georgia Holland, Will Byrne
  • 2024 NCAA DI National Champions
  • Team boasted a 23-1 record, best in program history
  • Eight Wildcats were named to 2024 NFHCA All-Region Teams and five were named to the 2024 NFHCA All-American Team
  • Second-consecutive B1G title with perfect 8-0 record and undefeated at home with 22-game home win streak
  • Ranked second in the nation in goals per game (3.58) and led the nation in total goals scored (86) and winning percentage (.958)

Division II

Saint Anselm College

Carolyn King-Robitaille, Brooke Lemerise, Cheryl Murtagh
  • First National Championship in Saint Anselm history (lowest seed to ever win)
  • 18-6 overall record (10-3 in the NE10)
  • NE10 Championship Berth
  • Six team members were named to NE10 All-Conference teams, and three members were named to the 2024 NFHCA All-American Team

Division III

Tufts University

Tina Mattera, Megan Caveny, Katie Weber, Troy Zirbel
  • NCAA Division III National Runner-Up
  • Ranked second in the NESCAC for lowest goals against average and fourth in the nation for winning percentage (.864)
  • NESCAC champion for the first time since 2016
  • The Jumbos were unbeaten at home (12-0) and had a 13-game winning streak overall that included four straight wins by shootout in the regular-season finale through the NESCAC Tournament
  • Coached four Jumbos to 2024 NFHCA All-Region honors and three Jumbos to 2024 NFHCA All-American honors

The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) is a nonprofit organization serving field hockey coaches and supporters of the game from across the United States. The mission of the organization is to champion, strengthen, and celebrate field hockey coaches and the game. The NFHCA strives to cultivate and recognize the professional contributions of its membership and to foster and promote the growth of the sport. The NFHCA is responsible for providing a recognizable presence and voice in regard to legislation affecting the sport as well as interscholastic and intercollegiate programs.
