Schulze, Saint Martin NFHCA DI Field Hockey Players of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO  — Grace Schulze, a graduate student forward from Northwestern University, and Diane St. Martin, a first year goalkeeper from Liberty University, have been named this week’s NFHCA Division I Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively. Dani Mendez, a senior forward from the University of North Carolina, and Paige Kieft, a graduate student goalkeeper from the Saint Joseph’s University, also received honorable mention nods for Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week.

NFHCA Division I Offensive Player of the Week

 

Grace Schulze, Northwestern University, Graduate Student, Forward (Greenwich, CT)

  • Tallied three goals and one assist in the Big Ten Tournament, leading Northwestern to wins over then-No. 15 Michigan and then-No. 9 Iowa.
  • Against Michigan, scored the opening goal, assisted on the second, and added another to give Northwestern a 3-2 lead in an eventual 5-3 semifinal victory.
  • Scored the eventual championship-winning goal and recorded a defensive save in the title win, earning Big Ten Tournament Most Outstanding Player honors.

NFHCA Division I Defensive Player of the Week

 

Diane Saint Martin, Liberty University, First Year, Goalkeeper (Paris, France)

  • Made nine saves in a 2-1 overtime victory against then-No. 20 UConn to clinch the Big East Championship.
  • Posted a .818 save percentage across two wins and 122 minutes of postseason play.
  • Named to the Big East All-Tournament Team.

NFHCA Division I Honorable Mention

Offensive: Dani Mendez, University of North Carolina, Senior, Forward/Midfielder (Reisterstown, MD)

  • Registered four goals and two assists through the ACC Tournament, recording points in every match while leading the Tar Heels to their ninth consecutive ACC title.
  • Recognized as the ACC Tournament’s Most Valuable Player.

Defensive: Paige Kieft, Saint Joseph’s University, Graduate Student, Goalkeeper (Newtown Square, PA)

  • Totaled six saves across two postseason wins, highlighted by five stops in a double-overtime semifinal against VCU and a shutout in the A-10 Championship.
  • Anchored Saint Joseph’s to its fifth straight Atlantic 10 title, earning a spot on the A-10 All-Tournament Team.
