NFHCA announces 2020 Division I National Academic Team Award
BROCKPORT, N.Y. — The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) is proud to announce that all 79 Division I programs have earned the 2020 NFHCA Division I National Academic Team Award.
The NFHCA National Academic Team Award recognizes programs that earned a team grade-point average of 3.0 or higher during the fall semester of the 2020-2021 school year.
Virginia Commonwealth University posted the highest team GPA for the second-consecutive year with a mark of 3.84. Stanford University came in a close second with a team-average 3.83.
Two ties made the traditional “Top Five” a top seven this year — the University of Maine and Yale University both posted a 3.81 for a third-place ranking while Dartmouth College, Rutgers University, and the University of Louisville were locked in a three-way tie for the fifth-spot with a 3.80 mark.

One Division I academic award remains to be released, the NFHCA Division I National Scholar-Athlete will be announced on June 15. The Division I National Academic Squad and Division I Scholars of Distinction were announced earlier this month.

The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) is a nonprofit organization serving field hockey coaches and supporters of the game from across the United States. The mission of the organization is to champion, strengthen, and celebrate field hockey coaches and the game. The NFHCA strives to cultivate and recognize the professional contributions of its membership and to foster and promote the growth of the sport. The NFHCA is responsible for providing a recognizable presence and voice in regard to legislation affecting the sport as well as interscholastic and intercollegiate programs.
