MANAHAWKIN, NJ —The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) has recognized Phoenix Elite U19 athlete Leah Newton as the NFHCA Club Player of the Month, sponsored by Victory Sports Tours.

A 2026 forward from Southern Regional High School in Manahawkin, New Jersey, Newton showcased her scoring prowess at the Shooting Stars Jamboree Showcase, starting in all five games for the Phoenix Elite U19 squad. She was responsible for more than half of the team’s total offensive output, netting six of the squad’s 11 goals, including one hat-trick in a 6-1 victory.

Earlier in the month, Newton also made her mark at the Junior Premier Outdoor League (JPOL), contributing both a goal and an assist across two Region 6 matches. Phoenix Elite U19 came away with a win and a draw during that stretch.
