Neilson, Canelli named NFHCA Division I National Players of the Week
MANAHAWKIN, NJ — Lily Neilson, a senior forward from Bucknell University, and Sadie Canelli, a first year goalkeeper from Indiana University, have been named this week’s NFHCA Division I Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively. Myrte van Herwijnen, a junior goalkeeper from No. 14 University of Massachusetts Amherst, also received an honorable mention nod for Defensive Player of the Week.

NFHCA Division I Defensive Player of the Week
Sadie Canelli, Indiana University, FY., Goalkeeper (Boxford, Massachusetts)
- Named B1G Defensive Player of the Week.
- Led Indiana to a pair of wins, allowing only one goal in 137 minutes of action.
- Stopped four shots in a 2-1 double overtime win against then-No. 12 Iowa.
- Recorded a 4-0 shutout of Monmouth to finish with a 0.44 goals-against average and .800 save percentage for the week.
NFHCA Division I Offensive Player of the Week
Lily Neilson, Bucknell University, Sr., Forward (Armidale, New South Wales, Australia)
- Named Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week.
- Netted four goals in a pair of Bison wins, including the game-winner in a 3-2 overtime victory against Cornell.
- Her 13 goals are tops in the Patriot League and tied for fourth nationally in Division I.
NFHCA Division I Defensive Player of the Week Honorable Mention
Myrte van Herwijnen, No. 14 University of Massachusetts Amherst, Jr., Goalkeeper (Huizen, The Netherlands)
- Named Atlantic-10 Defensive Player of the Week.
- Recorded seven saves en route to a 2-1 win over La Salle before recording her A-10 leading fifth shutout in net after a 1-0 win over Lafayette.
The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) is a nonprofit organization serving field hockey coaches and supporters of the game from across the United States.
