Morse, Cooper named NFHCA Division III National Players of the Week

MANAHAWKIN, NJ  — Senior goalkeeper from Fitchburg State University, Jenna Morse, and junior forward from St. John Fisher University, Emma Cooper, have been named this week’s NFHCA Division III Defensive and Offensive Players of the Week, respectively.

Junior midfielder from No. 19 The College of New Jersey, Claire Engebreth, senior defender from SUNY New Paltz, Sam Moran, junior midfielder Worcester State University, Grace Adams, and junior midfielder from Stockton University, Allie Palumbo, also received honorable mention nods for Division III Defensive and Offensive Players of the Week, respectively, as well.

NFHCA Division III Defensive Player of the Week

 

Jenna Morse, Fitchburg State University, Sr., Goalkeeper (Leominster, Massachusetts)

  • Named MASCAC Defensive Player of the Week.
  • Recorded 26 saves against Worcester State – the third highest saves total in DIII in the country this year.
  • Totaled 30 saves and a .833 save percentage on the week.

NFHCA Division III Offensive Player of the Week

 

Emma Cooper, St. John Fisher University, Jr., Forward (Eden, New York)

  • Named Empire 8 Offensive Player of the Week.
  • Tallied 11 points on two goals and seven assists in a 2-0 week for the Cardinals.
  • Posted five assists against Roberts Wesleyan, the second-most for a single game in St. John Fisher history.

NFHCA Division III Defensive Player of the Week Honorable Mention

 

Claire Engebreth​, No. 19 The College of New Jersey, Jr., Midfielder (Furlong, Pennsylvania)

  • Named NJAC Defensive Player of the Week.
  • Assisted on game-winning goal against No. 17 Rowan University. 

NFHCA Division III Defensive Player of the Week Honorable Mention

 

Sam Moran​, SUNY New Paltz, Sr., Defender (Manorville, New York)

  • Set a new single-game program record with four defensive saves against No. 11 Kean.
  • Led a defense in a 2-0 shutout victory over SUNY Oswego.

NFHCA Division III Offensive Player of the Week Honorable Mention

 

Grace Adams, Worcester State University, Jr., Midfielder (Leominster, Massachusetts)

  • MASCAC Offensive Player of the Week.
  • Tallied four goals and three assists as the Lancers completed a 2-1 week.

NFHCA Division III Offensive Player of the Week Honorable Mention

 

Allie Palumbo, Stockton University, Jr., Forward (Mantua, New Jersey)

  • Earned her second NJAC Offensive Player of the Week honor after leading Stockton to a 3-0 week.
  • Registered eight points on three goals and two assists as the Ospreys defeated Widener, Elizabethtown, and FDU-Florham.

The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) is a nonprofit organization serving field hockey coaches and supporters of the game from across the United States. The mission of the organization is to stimulate the professional development of coaching leadership within the sport of field hockey. The NFHCA strives to cultivate and recognize the professional contributions of its membership and to foster and promote the growth of the sport.
