Marks named 2022 NFHCA Division III National Scholar-Athlete

GENEVA, N.Y. — Charlotte Marks, a junior defender from Middlebury College, has been named this year’s NFHCA Division III National Scholar-Athlete.
The NFHCA National Scholar-Athlete honor is presented annually to the Division III All-American who earns the highest cumulative grade-point average through the first semester of the current academic year.
Marks was named to the 2022 NFHCA Division III All-American Third Team and was an NFHCA Division III All-Region First-Team selection. She also garnered All-NESCAC Second-Team status for the second consecutive season having anchored a defensive unit that led the conference with a .54 goals against average and posted 13 shutouts this past season. The defender helped lead Middlebury to its fifth consecutive NCAA Championship this fall and third-straight for Marks.
Off the field, Marks is a molecular biology and biochemistry major with a minor in global health and studying on the pre-med track. Fluent in Spanish, Marks is studying abroad in Viña del Mar, Chile, this spring and will participate in the Middlebury Schools Abroad Pre-Health program. Academically, Marks has been named to the NESCAC All-Academic Team three times, Middlebury’s Scholar List five times, and NFHCA National Academic Squad and NFHCA Scholar of Distinction four times. Additionally, Marks is a four-year member of the Middlebury Ski Patrol and participates in the Stride Foundation Snow Stars Program which mentors young girls from the community to ski.
Marks is the first student-athlete from Middlebury College to receive the National Scholar-Athlete award.
The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) is a nonprofit organization serving field hockey coaches and supporters of the game from across the United States. The mission of the organization is to champion, strengthen, and celebrate field hockey coaches and the game. The NFHCA strives to cultivate and recognize the professional contributions of its membership and to foster and promote the growth of the sport. The NFHCA is responsible for providing a recognizable presence and voice in regard to legislation affecting the sport as well as interscholastic and intercollegiate programs.
