Fuqua, McDonald NFHCA Division III National Players of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO — Megan Fuqua, a junior midfielder from Middlebury College, and Julia McDonald, a senior goalkeeper from Washington & Lee University, have been named this week’s NFHCA Division III Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively. Nina Contrera, a sophomore forward/midfielder from SUNY Oneonta and Lauren Bachner, a senior goalkeeper from Nazareth College, also received honorable mention nods for Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week.
NFHCA Division III Defensive Player of the Week
Julia McDonald, Washington & Lee University, Senior, Goalkeeper (Guilford, CT)
- Earned ODAC Defensive Player of the Week for Sept 8
- Tallied nineteen saves in a 1-1 week for the Generals
- Recorded 18 saves in a tight 1-0 loss to then No. 6 Christopher Newport University
NFHCA Division III Offensive Player of the Week
Megan Fuqua, Middlebury College, Junior, Midfielder (Medfield, MA)
- Tallied nine points to pace the Panthers in a 3-0 week
- Amassed five points in Middlebury’s victory over Vermont State University Castleton
- Scored pivotal goals in wins against Hamilton College and then No.15 Bryn Mawr College
NFHCA Division III Honorable Mention
Defensive: Lauren Bachner, Nazareth College, Senior, Goalkeeper (Gorham, ME)
- Posted a .880 save percentage, making 22 saves en route to earning Empire 8 Defensive Player of the Week honors
- Recorded 18 saves in overtime loss to University of Rochester
Offensive: Nina Contrera, SUNY Oneonta, Sophomore, Forward/Midfielder (Rochester, NY)
- Finished the week with 4 goals in the Red Dragons’ two wins
- Notched a hat trick in Oneonta’s win over Keuka
