Falterer, Marsh named NFHCA Division III National Players of the Week

MANAHAWKIN, NJ  — Junior defender from No. 3 Johns Hopkins University, Liz Falterer, and junior midfielder from No. 2 Babson College, Camille Marsh, have been named this week’s NFHCA Division III Defensive and Offensive Players of the Week, respectively.

Sophomore goalkeeper from No. 18 SUNY Cortland, Emma Morgan, sophomore defender from No. 17 University of Lynchburg, Marlou Wendriks, and graduate forward from No. 23 Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Paige Forester, also received honorable mention nods for Division III Defensive and Offensive Players of the Week, respectively, as well.

NFHCA Division III Defensive Player of the Week

 

Liz Falterer, No. 3 Johns Hopkins University, Jr., Defender (Fairfield, Connecticut)

  • Led Johns Hopkins to a pair of wins over ranked opponents last week.
  • Led a Blue Jay defense that allowed just one goal and 10 total shots in more than 122 minutes of action.
  • Helped hold No. 4 Messiah to a lone goal and just eight shots, the Falcons’ lowest total this season, while scoring both goals in the 2-1 overtime win.
  • Notched an assist and anchored a defense that held host and 15th-ranked Ursinus to just two shots in Hopkins’ 3-0 win. It was the Bears’ lowest shot total in more than six years. 

NFHCA Division III Offensive Player of the Week

 

Camille Marsh, No. 2 Babson College, Jr., Midfielder (Englewood, Colorado)

  • Named NEWMAC Offensive Player of the Week.
  • Netted a goal and tallied two assists in the win over Skidmore.
  • Matched Babson’s single-game record with five goals in a 9-0 victory over Wheaton, with four of her tallies against the Lyons coming in a span of just over eight minutes in the first half.

NFHCA Division III Defensive Player of the Week Honorable Mention

 

Emma Morgan, No. 18 SUNY Cortland, So., Goalkeeper (Whitney Point, New York)

  • Posted a 2-0 record on the week with a 0.50 GAA, nine saves, a .900 save percentage and one shutout last week for the No. 18 Red Dragons.
  • In a 7-1 home victory versus Oneonta, stopped three shots.
  • Made six saves in posting a 1-0 home win versus defending regular-season conference champion Geneseo.
  • Holds a 6-0 record for the season in net.

NFHCA Division III Offensive Player of the Week Honorable Mention

 

Marlou Wendriks, No. 17 University of Lynchburg, So., Defender (Utrecht, Netherlands)

  • Named ODAC Player of the Week.
  • Helped 17th-ranked Lynchburg to a trio of victories last week.
  • For the season, leads the ODAC in points (19), goals scored (seven), and assists (five).

NFHCA Division III Offensive Player of the Week Honorable Mention

 

Paige Forester, No. 23 Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Gr., Forward (Glencoe, Illinois)

  • Scored the game-winning goal with 2.1 seconds remaining in a 2-1 victory at No. 10 Amherst.
  • Followed this up with a hat-trick in a 4-3 overtime win at Springfield, tying the game in the 50th minute and netting the game-winner 1:12 into overtime.

The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) is a nonprofit organization serving field hockey coaches and supporters of the game from across the United States.
