Brough, Di Leva named NFHCA Division I National Players of the Week

MANAHAWKIN, NJ  —  Sophomore defender from No. 13 Harvard University, Bronte-May Brough, and senior forward from Drexel University, Eline Di Leva, have been named this week’s NFHCA Division I Defensive and Offensive Players of the Week, respectively.

Senior midfielder from No. 5 University of Louisville, Mia Duchars, sophomore forward from University of New Hampshire, Tasmin Cookman, and senior defender from No. 12 Syracuse University, Eefke van den Nieuwenhof, all received honorable mention nods for Division I Defensive and Offensive Players of the Week, respectively, as well.

NFHCA Division I Defensive Player of the Week

 

Bronte-May Brough, No. 13 Harvard University, So., Defender (Uttoxeter, England)

  • Named Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week.
  • Netted two goals in victory over No. 12 Syracuse, including the game-winner.
  • Led a defense that fought off three Syracuse penalty corners as time expired.
  • Recorded an assist against Yale.

NFHCA Division I Offensive Player of the Week

 

Eline Di Leva, Drexel University, Sr., Forward (Lelystad, Netherlands)

  • Named CAA Player of the Week.
  • Scored or assisted on four of Drexel’s five goals in a 2-0 week as the Dragons extended their winning streak to five matches.
  • Recorded the game-winning goals in both contests.
  • Netted both goals in a 2-1 double-overtime victory over Hofstra.
  • Notched a goal in five straight contests, recording six tallies and 14 points during that span.

NFHCA Division I Defensive Player of the Week Honorable Mention

 

Mia Duchars, No. 5 University of Louisville, Sr., Midfielder (St. Louis, Missouri)

  • Named ACC Defensive Player of the Week.
  • Leads a Cardinals defense which has produced three shutouts on the season.
  • Dished out a penalty corner assist on Louisville’s insurance goal in a 2-0 victory over No. 8 University of Virginia.

NFHCA Division I Offensive Player of the Week Honorable Mention

 

Tasmin Cookman, University of New Hampshire, So., Forward (Woking, England)

  • Netted two goals and tallied two assists in a 2-0 week.
  • Scored game-winning goal in 3-2 win over Bryant and collected game-winning assist in 3-2 win over Dartmouth.

NFHCA Division I Offensive Player of the Week Honorable Mention

 

Eefke van den Nieuwenhof, No. 12 Syracuse University, Sr., Defender (Utrecht, Netherlands)

  • Named ACC Offensive Player of the Week.
  • Delivered the double overtime game-winning goal on a penalty stroke to take down No. 11 Boston College.
  • Buried two goals, bookending the Orange scoring at No. 13 Harvard. 

The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) is a nonprofit organization serving field hockey coaches and supporters of the game from across the United States. The mission of the organization is to stimulate the professional development of coaching leadership within the sport of field hockey.
