Franco, George named NFHCA Division III National Players of the Week

GENEVA, N.Y. — Fifth year goalkeeper from Stevens Institute of Technology, Emily Franco, and junior forward from No. 2 Middlebury College, Katie George, have been named this week’s NFHCA Division III Defensive and Offensive Players of the Week sponsored by ScoreBreak, respectively.
NFHCA Division III Defensive Player of the Week
Emily Franco, Stevens Institute of Technology, Fifth Year, Goalkeeper (West Chester, Pennsylvania)
- Led Stevens to two wins over King’s College and Union College
- Set the program record with 48 career wins
- Totaled 11 saves across both games
- Made seven saves in the 4-1 win vs King’s
- Made four saves in the 3-2 overtime win vs Union
- Named MAC Freedom Defensive Player of the Week
NFHCA Division III Offensive Player of the Week
Katie George, No. 2 Middlebury College, Jr., Forward (North Kingstown, Rhode Island)
- Led the Panther’s to a 2-0 NESCAC week to secure the top seed in the NESCAC Tournament
- Assisted on the game-winning goal during the 4-1 victory over then-No. 7 Williams College
- Scored a pair of goals, including the game-winning goal, in the 5-1 victory vs then-No. 17 Hamilton College
- Tied for first in the NESCAC for game-winning goals
- Named NESCAC Player of the Week
The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) is a nonprofit organization serving field hockey coaches and supporters of the game from across the United States. The mission of the organization is to champion, strengthen, and celebrate field hockey coaches and the game. The NFHCA strives to cultivate and recognize the professional contributions of its membership and to foster and promote the growth of the sport. The NFHCA is responsible for providing a recognizable presence and voice in regard to legislation affecting the sport as well as interscholastic and intercollegiate programs.
