Langejans, Matson named NFHCA Division I National Players of the Week

GENEVA, N.Y. — Junior defender from No. 20 Rutgers University, Iris Langejans, and senior forward from No.1 University of North Carolina, Erin Matson, have been named this week’s NFHCA Division I Defensive and Offensive Players of the Week sponsored by ScoreBreak, respectively. The performance of Dartmouth College senior goalkeeper, Hatley Post, merited an honorable mention.

NFHCA Division I Defensive Player of the Week

 

Iris Langejans, No. 20 Rutgers University, Jr., Defender (Almelo, The Netherlands)

  • Anchored Rutger’s defensive efforts in the 2-1 victory vs No. 3 Northwestern University
  • Scored a goal on a penalty stroke to put Rutgers up 2-0
  • Held Northwestern to one goal, tying for their second lowest output of the season and just the third time this year
  • Named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week

NFHCA Division I Offensive Player of the Week

 

Erin Matson, No. 1 University of North Carolina, Sr., Forward (Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania)

  • Scored three goals as the No. 1 Tar Heels went 2-0 on the weekend against ranked teams
  • Scored one goal in the 4-3 ACC victory vs No. 19 Boston College
  • Scored the first two goals in the 3-0 victory vs then-No. 12 University of Connecticut
  • Tied the ACC’s all-time scoring record with 306 points
  • Marks Matson’s fifth multi-goal game this season
  • Leads the ACC with goals, goals per game, points, and points per game
  • Named ACC Offensive Player of the Week

Honorable Mention

 

Hatley Post, Dartmouth College, Sr., Goalkeeper (Houston, Texas)

  • Made a career-high 19 saves against No. 8 Princeton University, allowing just one goal
  • Post’s 19 saves are the most in Division I this season
  • Became just the second Ivy League student-athlete to stop that many shots in one game in over 13 seasons
  • Marked the fewest goals allowed by Dartmouth at Princeton since 1990
  • Named Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week
