Perales, Tromp NFHCA DI Field Hockey Players of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO — Valeria Perales, a senior forward from Rider University, and Ilse Tromp, a junior defender from Northwestern, have been named this week’s NFHCA Division I Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively. Zoé Gaillard, a first year forward from Liberty University, and Nicky Sjouken, a senior goalkeeper from Miami University, also received honorable mention nods for Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week.
NFHCA Division I Offensive Player of the Week
Valeria Perales, Rider University, Senior, Forward (Madrid, Spain)
- Registered four goals across two victories, including both the game-tying and double-overtime game-winning goals in a 4–3 triumph over La Salle and a 2-goal game vs Mercyhurst.
- Named the NEC Offensive Player of the Week after leading the Broncs to a perfect weekend.
NFHCA Division I Defensive Player of the Week
Ilse Tromp, Northwestern, Junior, Defender (Rotterdam, Netherlands)
- Tallied two goals in Northwestern’s 3-1 comeback win over then No. 10 Iowa, scoring the game-tying goal in the third quarter and adding the game-winner.
- Anchored a Wildcat backline that limited Iowa to just six shots on goal, helping secure Northwestern’s ninth consecutive victory.
- Also recognized as the Big Ten’s Defensive Player of the Week.
NFHCA Division I Honorable Mention
Offensive: Zoé Gaillard, Liberty University, First Year, Forward (Paris, France)
- Recorded a record-breaking five-goal performance in the then No. 6 Flames’ 7-1 win at then No. 17 Appalachian State.
- Also recognized as the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week.
Defensive: Nicky Sjouken, Miami University, Senior, Goalkeeper (Doetinchemse, Netherlands)
- Amassed ten saves across a shutout win over then No. 17 App State and a 2-1 overtime loss to then No. 7 Wake Forest.
- Also recognized as the MAC Defensive Player of the Week.
