Omurtag named NFHCA July Club Player of the Month

MANAHAWKIN, NJ — Tessa Omurtag, a 2030 midfielder hailing from Gateway Field Hockey Club in St. Louis, MO, has earned the title of NFHCA July Club Player of the Month.

Throughout the month, Omurtag scored eight goals and provided 15 assists in just 10 matches. As the captain of her U12 team at USA Field Hockey’s Bash at the Beach event, she guided her squad to an unbeaten 5-0 record. Her exceptional performance continued at the USAFH’s Nexus Junior Championship, earning her a place in the AAU Junior Olympics. Her leadership and performance were crucial in leading her team to the bronze medal match there.

Honorable mention

Emma Ey, a 2029 forward from NEPA Force in Scranton, PA, has been tabbed with an honorable mention nod for the NFHCA July Club Player of the month.

Ey scored five goals and provided two assists in 10 games, with three of her goals and two assists coming during the Nexus Junior Championships. Her impressive performance earned her a spot in the Junior Olympics, where her team secured a fourth-place finish. Notably, she was one of only three U14 players on the roster.

The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) is a nonprofit organization serving field hockey coaches and supporters of the game from across the United States. The mission of the organization is to stimulate the professional development of coaching leadership within the sport of field hockey. The NFHCA strives to cultivate and recognize the professional contributions of its membership and to foster and promote the growth of the sport. The NFHCA is responsible for providing a recognizable presence and voice in regard to legislation affecting the sport as well as interscholastic and intercollegiate programs.
