Traynor, Szymborski NFHCA DII Field Hockey Players of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO  — Jessica Traynor, a junior midfielder from Kutztown University, and Audra Szymborski, a sophomore goalkeeper from West Chester University, have been named this week’s NFHCA Division II Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively.

Sara Schumacher, a junior defender from Belmont Abbey College, and Allison Gregory, a junior goalkeeper from Adelphi University, also received honorable mention nods for Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week.

NFHCA Division II Offensive Player of the Week

Jessica Traynor, Kutztown University, Junior, Midfielder (Pennsburg, PA)

  • Scored four goals in three wins, including the game-winner in each contest.
  • Delivered both goals in a 2–1 overtime victory over Millersville, netting the golden goal just 3:36 into OT.
  • Broke a late tie with the decisive tally in a 3–2 win over then No. 7 Mansfield.
  • Earned PSAC Field Hockey Athlete of the Week.

NFHCA Division II Defensive Player of the Week

Audra Szymborski, West Chester University, Sophomore, Goalkeeper (Furlong, PA)

  • Backstopped the Golden Rams to two ranked wins, including a 3–2 victory over then-No. 7 Mansfield and a 2–1 overtime upset of then-No. 3 East Stroudsburg.
  • Matched season high with nine saves against East Stroudsburg.
  • Added four saves in the win over Mansfield, finishing the week with 13 saves on 16 shots to anchor West Chester’s defensive success.
  • Earned PSAC Field Hockey Athlete of the Week.

NFHCA Division II Honorable Mention

 

Offensive: Sara Schumacher, Belmont Abbey College, Junior, Defender (Cologne, Germany)

  • Recorded back-to-back two-goal performances to power Belmont Abbey to a 2-0 week.
  • Has led to the Crusaders’ 4-1 start to conference play.

Defensive: Allison Gregory, Adelphi University, Junior, Goalkeeper (Glen Allen, VA)

  • Recorded six saves in a shutout win over then-No. 10 Southern New Hampshire, leading Adelphi to a perfect 2–0 week.
