BROCKPORT, N.Y. — Samantha Ekstrand, legal counsel for the NFHCA and partner at Ekstrand & Ekstrand, will present her coach’s “Scouting Report” at the 2022 NFHCA Annual Convention. Ekstrand will also be available for one-on-one consultations with attendees — coaches will have the ability to schedule an appointment with Ekstrand on-site, during the event.
Ekstrand returns to the NFHCA’s annual event after her featured presentation at the 2021 Virtual Coaches’ Caucus, “Coaching During COVID.” The upcoming “Scouting Report” will draw on a legal practice area that focuses predominantly on coaches. The discussion will cover key topics and issues coaches are navigating now — Ekstrand will offer thoughts on best practices, things to be aware of, and things to avoid. The “Scouting Report” will be presented on the second day of the Annual Convention and attendees will have the opportunity to presubmit questions. Join this session to be better prepared for the year ahead.
Samantha Ekstrand
Samantha Ekstrand was named the IWLCA Legal Counsel in 2009 and has been working with the NFHCA since March 2020. Ekstrand co-founded the law firm Ekstrand & Ekstrand in 2002 and oversees the management of the firm, evaluates prospective cases, advises on case strategy, drafts and reviews contracts, and prepares simple wills and trusts.
Ekstrand received her J.D. from Duke Law School, and received an M.A. in History from Duke University. While at Duke, she worked as a staff editor for the Duke Law Journal, and served as a volunteer assistant coach for the Duke University women’s lacrosse team.
Ekstrand earned her B.A. in History and Government cum laude from Dartmouth College.
2022 NFHCA Annual Convention
The 2022 NFHCA Annual Convention incorporates NFHCA business meetings, on-field educational sessions, a variety of speakers, the NFHCA Awards Dinner sponsored by AstroTurf, and multiple opportunities for attendees to connect with their colleagues. The NFHCA Annual Convention is where coaches from all levels gather yearly to connect, learn, and grow.
The Annual Convention is held in conjunction with the NFHCA Winter Escape Showcase — a holistic recruiting experience — and the NFHCA Divot Golf Classic.
The 2022 NFHCA Annual Convention will take place between January 11 — 13, 2022 at the Orlando Marriott Lake Mary in Lake Mary, Florida. NFHCA members can register online.
