NFHCA Announces Inaugural DEI Spotlight Recognition
DURHAM, N.H. – The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) is excited to shine light on passionate coaches and programs advocating strongly for diversity, equity, and inclusion. The DEI Spotlight Recognition was developed by the NFHCA DEI Committee to recognize a field hockey related person, group, or organization in the United States making an impact in the DEI space through education, advocacy, and allyship.
“We are excited to roll out the DEI Spotlight Recognition for the NFHCA. As an organization, the NFHCA wants to support and shine the light on those committed to DEI advocacy in their communities. The DEI Spotlight Recognition will also look beyond the individual to highlight events, speakers, and efforts to educate. We hope this recognition will spark ideas and meaningful conversation for others inside and outside the sport to ensure important conversations are continuing in the DEI space.” – DEI Committee members: Mimi Smith, Anna Rogers, and co-chair Brandi Kist.
The NFHCA and its members are committed to fostering a welcoming and equitable environment where diversity and inclusion are learned, nurtured, expressed, and valued. There are many resources that members may use to assist their education and advocacy for DEI including the STAND Up to Harassment Resource, NFHCA Coffee Talks in the member portal, and the NFHCA Partner Event: Be the Match.
The first DEI Spotlight recognition nomination form is open through May 15, 2023. Anyone is welcome to submit a nomination – an NFHCA membership is not required. The second nomination window is from May 16, 2023 – December 15, 2023. The NFHCA will award the DEI Spotlight recognition twice annually.
