NFHCA announces 2022 NFHCA Division II Regional Players of the Year

2021 NFHCA Division II Regional Players of the Year

GENEVA, N.Y. — Maggie Malloy from Saint Anselm College and Valerie van Kuijck from West Chester University were selected to represent their respective region as the NFHCA Division II Regional Player of the Year. Each regional award winner is now in the running for NFHCA National Player of the Year honors.

Atlantic Region

Valerie van Kuijck, West Chester University, So., Midfielder (Denbosch, The Netherlands)

  • Named to NFHCA Division II All-American First Team
  • Ranked first in the nation in assists per game (.75)
  • Tied for second in the nation in goals per game (.95) and ranked second in points per game (2.65)
  • Led a West Chester offense that had the nation’s best in points per game (12.5) and goals per game (4.4)
  • In just two seasons, ranks fourth in West Chester Division II history in career goals (40), career assists (23), and career points (103)
  • This is van Kuijck’s first NFHCA Atlantic Region Player of the Year honor

East Region

Maggie Malloy, Saint Anselm College, Sr., Forward (Canton, Massachusetts)

  • Named to NFHCA Division II All-American First Team
  • Named Northeast-10 Conference (NE10) Player of the Year and NE10 first-team selection
  • Led the NE10 in points per game (2.14) and goals per game (.90), scoring 19 goals with seven assists for 45 points
  • Set multiple single-season program records in points (45), goals (10), goals per game (.90), and shots on goal (72)
  • Led Saint Anselm to a 14-5 overall record, a regular season NE10 title, and a return trip to the NCAA Division II tournament
  • Named NFHCA Offensive Player of the Week (11/16/22)
  • This is Saint Anselm’s first NFHCA East Region Player of the Year honor

The NFHCA Division II Regional Player of the Year announcement is the second in a list of postseason awards from the NFHCA. The NFHCA Division II All-American team was released on December 16 and the NFHCA Division II National Player of the Year will be announced on December 20.

The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) is a nonprofit organization serving field hockey coaches and supporters of the game from across the United States. The mission of the organization is to stimulate the professional development of coaching leadership within the sport of field hockey. The NFHCA strives to cultivate and recognize the professional contributions of its membership and to foster and promote the growth of the sport. The NFHCA is responsible for providing a recognizable presence and voice in regard to legislation affecting the sport as well as interscholastic and intercollegiate programs.
